Compared to the 1920s house I grew up in and the 1890s apartment building that I lived in in Chicago, I never thought our house that was built in 1984 was old. However, the floors are very creaky for such a "young" house and we are thinking that we might need to do an Indiana Jones style puzzle on our floor with glow-in-the-dark letters to know the non-creaky way to get out of Madeline's room after we put her to sleep.
